Jesse Sweeney
President
President and founder Jesse R. Sweeney is a graduate of Michigan State University, James Madison College, and Michigan State University Law School (1999, Cum Laude). He is Certified as a bankruptcy expert through the American Board of Certification Board Certified, is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys. Additionally, he is licensed and in good standing in the State of Michigan, the State of Colorado, the Eastern and the Western District of Michigan and the US District Court of Colorado. He has been practicing bankruptcy law for over 20 years and has been in business on his own since 2005. He has spoken at two ABI bankruptcy conferences on the National Model Plan and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. His main goal is to eliminate debt and give you the fresh start you deserve. With over 1000 cases filed and hundreds discharged, he takes pride in ensuring you eliminate debt for good.
Erin Bartos Kramer
Senior Associate Attorney
Ms. Bartos has been employed with Sweeney Law Offices since September, 2014. Prior to her employment with Sweeney Law Offices, Ms. Bartos was an associate bankruptcy attorney at Charles J. Schneider, P.C. from October, 2012 through September, 2014. As an associate at the firm, she focusted solely on representing debtors in Chapter 7 & Chapter 13 bankruptcies. She met with clients, attended hearings, status conferences and all motions before U.S. Bankruptcy Court, and completed post-confirmation work as well as handled adversary actions. From May, 2012 to October, 2012, Ms. Bartos was an associate attorney at Hirshberg Acceptance Corporation/Modern Financial Services Corporation practicing bankruptcy law. Her focus was specifically creditor’s rights law concentrating in collections, which included automobile companies, financial institutions, and other entities in both State & Federal Court.
Lisa Nedzlek
Associate Attorney
A graduate of Wayne State University Law School, Lisa has extensive experience representing Debtors in Chapter 13 and Chapter 7 bankruptcy cases. Prior to working at Sweeney Law Offices Ms. Nedzlek worked at the Law Offices of Charles J. Schneider, P.C. for 10 years where she gained widespread experience in the field of bankruptcy. Ms. Nedzlek handled all aspects of the case from the very beginning through the discharge. She has wide-ranging experience in drafting motions, responses, plan modifications, briefs, and arguing complicated legal matters. She also had the opportunity to represent clients on the appellate level, as well as in pro bono cases. In addition, Ms. Nedzlek has also had the opportunity to speak at multiple seminars; most recently in November 2017 on the topic of the new Model Chapter 13 Plan.
LAURA HAWLEY
Associate Attorney
Laura Hawley has been employed with Sweeney Law Offices since July, 2013. Prior to her employment with Sweeney Law Offices, Ms. Hawley was a Senior Attorney at Trott & Trott, P.C. Her practice focused primarily on Bankruptcy and Insolvency Law, Creditors’ Rights and Litigation in Chapters 7, 11 and 13. She gained experience working on Compliance Issues and Requirements, Drafting Department of Justice Audit and Disclosure Procedures for the Firm in addition to drafting Motions, Responses, Briefs and other Court Required Legal Documents in Relation to Bankruptcy and Adversary Proceedings in Chapter 7, 11 and 13 Cases. During her time at Trott & Trott, Ms. Hawley attended Confirmation Hearings, Motion for Relief Hearings for Chapter 7, 11 and 13 Cases, Evidentiary Hearings and Adversary Proceeding Trials.
Prior to working at Trott & Trott, P.C., Ms. Hawley spent 2 years representing debtors in the Eastern & Western District of Michigan along with the Northern District of Illinois. She handled all aspects of Chapter 7 & 13 bankruptcy law. She met with clients, attended court hearings and gained experience in both pre and post-confirmation work. In addition to her law degree, Laura is a licensed realtor.
Tierney Eaton Hoffman
Associate Attorney
Tierney has been employed with Sweeney Law Offices since February 2020. Prior to joining the firm, Tierney held the position of managing attorney for the bankruptcy department of a boutique law firm where she counseled debtors and creditors on all aspects of Chapter 7 and 13 bankruptcy litigation. Tierney has also held various positions in the legal field, having worked as a law clerk and contract attorney where she assisted in various litigation and regulatory investigations. Tierney takes a holistic approach to counseling clients. She enjoys working with clients to achieve sustainable and winning results. Tierney is a proud native of Prichard, Alabama, but has called Michigan home for almost 15 years. She graduated with her J.D. from Wayne State University in 2008 and is licensed in the State of Michigan and Eastern District of Michigan. She is active in her community and volunteers with her neighborhood association. She lives in Detroit with her husband, Eric, and their son William.
